All prices include VAT. Subject to availability. If your property is not able to get Full Fibre, we will advise on the other options and speeds available. Speeds shown are maximum “technology speeds”. Typically you’ll get 80-90% of those speeds most of the time, but at peak times, these may drop to 60-80% of the headline max speeds. If you cease your broadband (rather than migrate) there is a £36 plus VAT cease fee – this is the same with all suppliers.

UK Full Fibre FTTP FAQ’s

Are there any additional setup costs

There is a £60 setup fee for new installs and migrations. However, if you opt to migrate and not use our included Wi-Fi router, or have your own, we can waive the £60 setup fee.

How long does a new install take

Usually around 2-3 weeks for a new install. If you’re moving to a new house, we recommend inquiring as soon as you can as lead times can be longer for new builds or where extra cabling is required.

How does your price promise work?

We promise not to increase the prices at the end of your initial contract term – you’ll pay the same as any “new customers” would. We only increase prices if wholesale prices go up (which they tend to by around inflation every April) – and if wholesale prices go down, we pass on these savings too!

What's the contract term?

All Full Fibre Broadband packages come with a 12 month contract. We don’t do “new customer” rates to entice customers so you won’t get stung at the end of the term with a massive price hike either! As you can appreciate, we swallow much of the installation fees, router costs and setup fees at the beginning of the contract to keep your monthly fees down. Cancelling broadband entirely does attract a £36 plus VAT fee which we pass on directly from Openreach, this does not normally apply if you migrate to another BT-based provider. If you cancel before your initial 12 month term, you will have to pay to the end of the 12 month contract. Once your 12 months is completed, you move to monthly contract terms – so no need to re-sign a long contract.

What is the model of FREE Router?

The TP-Link HX220 WiFi 6 router is what you get. This router has excellent coverage, is WiFi6 so every device gets good speeds and it comes with 1Gbps ethernet. This router is also great if you need to add additional WiFi access points and create a WiFi Mesh within your house.

Is there any downtime migrating from another ISP?

Not much no – maximum 1 hour. On the “switch” day, your old ISP will stop working at some point, leave for an hour or so and plug in your new router from us (or change your username on your current router)

Can I enable Parental Controls?

Yes, all of our routers come with parental controls which we can pre setup for you or help you set these up.

What speeds can I expect?

The “headline” speeds of the package is the maximum theoretical transfer speed, something you’ll never actually measure in real terms! The reason is that a 160Mbps connection for example does run at that maximum speed, but for web browsing, there are overheads in the data, security and latency etc, which brings real-world max speeds to about 80%-90% of the advertised rates. Although our network is much less congested than some of the mainstream providers, at peak times, you may still see a further reduction in speeds – perhaps to 60% of the advertised speeds in some cases. But most of the time, 80-90% is what you’ll get.

What if FTTP Full Fibre is not available to me?

Some properties still can’t get full fibre at all, and rely on the copper phone cable to the property until full fibre is deployed. For these, we’ll advise you at the order point and have some other options for you. SoGEA is what it’s called – but it’s basically FTTC – Fibre to the Cabinet with copper to your house. Max speeds for this are 80Mbps and heavily depend on the length of the copper part – so the distance to your street cab determines your speed.

What sort of help does WebMate provide?

Our support experts are here to help you with all of your internet needs where we can. Obviously, we prioritise helping with your actual connection, getting the best speeds and WiFi signal etc, but we’re always happy to help with general Internet queries too. You buy your internet from us, you get full access to our Internet Experts when you need it!

TERMS & CONDITIONS (click to read)

Telephone line installation (PSTN): New PSTN lines are £120 plus VAT and are required for ADSL and FTTC connections (not for SoGEA or FTTP) – PSTN lines are being phased out so we do recommend making the switch now to fibre and VoIP where possible to save some money.

Free modem and installation:  Applies to all broadband orders and with no contract, just 30 days notice of termination. Billing periods run from 1st to the 1st of each month, no part-month-refunds, 1 full month notice required should you decide to migrate or cease (ceasing incurs a £32 fee).

Broadband Speeds for ADSL: There are multiple factors that affect your maximum speed including whether your exchange is enabled for 21CN / ADSL 2+, the distance of your line from the exchange, the age and quality of the copper cable to the exchange, the connections in between and any interference along the way.  Our speed estimator bases its results on the distance and speeds recorded from your neighbours and is an indication only. The maximum speed your line can handle is your “sync speed” and not necessarily the speed you’ll get all the time. See our Peak and Off-Peak estimates for indications of real-world speeds when congestion and overheads are taken into account. We always deliver the fastest speeds your line can handle.

Broadband Speeds for Fibre Broadband: Fibre / FTTC is different to ADSL in that the only copper part of the cable is from the street cabinet to your property. From the street cabinet to the exchange is Fibre which does not suffer the same speed loss over distance as copper. Therefore the maximum sync speed of your fibre connection is mainly affected by the copper from your house to your exchange (10-250m will generally give full fibre speeds, 500m will give 50-75%).

Migrating and Cease Fees: Migrations to us are free and we do not make a charge for migrating away. As our broadband network is our own LLU, some providers may charge to move to their LLU network or back to BT’s (phone lines remain with BT so there are no changes/charges moving to another BT-based provider). Ceasing a connection completely does incur a £32 cease fee (this is passed on directly from Openreach and is their charge for physically disconnecting the broadband service at the exchange).

Unlimited Calls:  Include calls to UK landlines only that start with 01, 02, 03 or 08 and for calls under 60 mins only. Calls over 60mins are charged at our standard rates (which are generally cheaper than most providers including BT)

20CN exchanges: If your exchange is not upgraded to support 21 CN you will only be able to get a maximum of 8Mbps down and 800kbps up, and there will be a £5 inc VAT surcharge to the above prices (sorry – it’s three times more expensive for us to provide service to these lines). Additionally, 20CN lines will have a 20GB cap per month. Please contact us for pricing on higher or unlimited caps on these lines.

Timescales: Migrations and new activation on existing lines normally take 7 days. Where a new telephone installation is required this normally takes 14 days (but for new-builds or where engineering works will be required it can take up to 90 days)

Any other questions please feel free to call or email us. All prices include VAT unless otherwise stated.

I have been with WebMate since dial-up access days! Stayed with them mainly because of their excellent customer service – prompt, helpful, and knowledgeable. They even ring you back if their line is busy! What a relief not to have to deal with a far flung call centre or poorly informed staff reading from a script. Efficient service and staff very supportive, helpful and patient. Treated like a person as opposed to a number.

Great support as always from WebMate! I’ve used Webmate for about 8 years now and they are always superb at delivering, friendly, honest coherent support in a really timely manner! I don’t hesitate to recommend them. Thank you Pete, Charlie, Lewis and all the team!

Excellent Service. Webmate have always been helpful and prompt in dealing with queries and problems but they surpassed themselves with a recent issue I had. At all times they replied very quickly, sometimes in only a few minutes, and were very patient in finding a solution that was not obvious and hence took several attempts to sort out. I can’t see you getting this level of service from some of the larger ISPs.

They recently prepared a website for me. A superb job for the price.I cannot recommend them too highly.

I have been with WebMate since 1998 and I cannot fault their excellent service and competitive rates for web-building and email hosting. No voice recognition frustration options when you call, but a familiar friendly voice to help you with any computer issues to hand.

Excellent service. The best Mac web provider out there. Any issues have been sorted extremely quickly and politely. Thank you. No holding on to phone lines for ever and ever. Quick response if even I’ve phoned. Tickets generated for problems sorted over night at the slowest.

I had no Broadband, so I phoned WebMate and I got the usual guy’s (based in Cornwall) to sort my problem within one day, I’ve been dealing with the same people for 20 years, that says everything! They got back to me to say that leave it with us, we’re working on it, and sure enough, it was fixed shortly afterwards. I truly believe that WebMate is the best and most honest company that I have ever dealt with, they are exceptional. Thank you all very much again.

A company that will actually talk to it’s customers. In a world where most companies seem to be set up to make it as hard as possible for you to talk to a real person, WebMate is a breath of fresh air. There are real, always helpful people just a phone call away. I have never for a moment regretted changing from the ever unhelpful BT. I don’t write reviews normally but this company deserves a bit of my time for going out of its way to be helpful to its customers rather than keeping them at arms length. I would highly recommend them.
