Do I have to transfer my domain to you?
No, you can simply point your MX records on your domain to our mail servers and leave the domain where it is if you prefer – or you can transfer the domain over to our nameservers for WebMate to manage the renewals, it’s completely up to you. Our support team can advise on the best way for you.
I want to transfer my email from another host, will there be any downtime?
No, we can help you migrate your email without any downtime at all. Our mail system has a special migration engine to help copy all of your current IMAP email over and to poll your old provider during the transition stage – this ensures zero downtime. Our support team can help advise the steps required to achieve this and we have some useful guides on our support site.
Is email secured end-to-end?
If possible YES. The process relies on the receiving server to also support secure encryption, and it supported the latest TLS encryption levels rather than the old, less secure types. So our servers always try to encrypt email between email servers (ISP’s) and certainly from your computer to our servers to ensure end-to-end secure emails. Most reputable ISP’s do use some form of encryption, the older, cheaper or free ones perhaps not…
Can I use email on my Mac or Linux computer?
Yes, our mail servers are fully standard-compliant and work with all mail clients on all platforms and devices (IMAP, POP and SMTP compliant).
What if I need more than 10GB of email space?
10GB is usually enough for most users, but if you need more, you can have as much as you need – simply buy extra 10GB blocks. We keep that simple too, these are the same price as a 10GB email account.
Do you keep backups of emails?
Of course! We’ve been around for over 20 years and know as well as anyone, no matter how good your hardware and systems, computers break. So as well as using RAID drives to protect against hardware failure, we do daily backups of all emails data. Not only that, we keep a live clone of our primary server, in a different datacentre, on hand ready to take over automatically (and share some of the load). We switch to this when we have to perform maintenance on our primary mail systems.
Does email sync on my computer and mobile phone?
Yes. With email, you have two options: POP or IMAP. POP is like a pigeon box where you collect your mail and delete it from the server. IMAP is where your email is all stored in the cloud on our servers and your devices all check that – meaning they all are “in sync” at all times. IMAP is defo recommended!
